Scappoose School Board Monday, January 14, voted with a majority of 5 -2 against a RESOLUTION proposed by board member, Lisa Maloney to remove GEORGE from the Oregon Battle of the Books reading list. Maloney and Brooks voted in favor.
Parents are intimidated and frustrated with their elected representatives on the School Board. They testify at public meetings, and attend work sessions only to be told the schools must comply with state Standards. But who, then represents parents concerns? Who protects children from controversial curriculums?
Parents, who brought their concerns about the book to School Board meeting in December, inspired Maloney to submit the Resolution, a power all board members and citizens have the right to do, but rarely use.

The account shared with Parents' Rights in Education is sufficient to cause alarm. It is however, incomplete as parents, students, and teachers are hesitant to share information. Teachers are afraid for their jobs. Parents fear their families will be marginalized and their children discriminated against if they express opposition. For this reason, we decided to share what we know because the indoctrination of minors by public schools has gone too far.
Schools teaching minors they can change gender. Transgenderism, now promoted in schools at the grade school level to “raise awareness” for gender dysphoria, clearly endorses transgenderism for children. It promotes risky medical procedures for minors, often without parental involvement. The FDA has not approved pediatric hormone blocking, a relatively new practice, first introduced in the United States in 2007. Giving cross-sex hormones, like estrogen to a boy is also not FDA-approved.
